Celebrating a Year

week 173 ~ as the road turns it will never turn back

with 6 comments

as the road turns it will never turn back
and so we abandon hesitantly
all we love and move toward all we could be
whatever it is whatever tiny crack
of light appears between the boulder stack
of doubts hoping what we still cannot see
ahead will be worth it innocently
asking why the unknown always looks black
why we can’t sit back and bask in today
why those who pause find they have been removed
to the sidelines as we lose track improved
by progress of what should go what should stay
because we’ll never find out what’s in store
until we follow fate beyond this door

  1. So strange how some of us must continue to move forward…with that approach-avoidance syndrome pounding in our head…guess we’d be bored otherwise. :-)

    • You got that right! I always told my kids it was my life’s ambition to be bored. Meaning, actually, that if I ever found myself bored i’d probably be done living.
