week 619 ~ as the neighbors too loudly conversing
as the neighbors too loudly conversing
and leaf blowers sing their songs of autumn
the days grow shorter and time reversing
steps away to make a call just a crumb
of silence a moment is all I seek
to rest my mind stop my ears from hearing
the lies that cause me angst for future’s bleak
warning won’t be drowned out by noise fearing
the worst won’t hold it back looking askance
at time won’t reinstate its old routine
helicopters roaring in the distance
sirens portend chaos sadness unseen
oh to hear nothing but wind through the leaves
a breath of solace as tomorrow grieves
week 617 ~ hold a finger up to check which
hold a finger up to check which
way the wind blows it’s too dark out
here to see much hope now when doubt
casts its shadow time’s in the ditch
no one even thinks it’s a glitch
in the system not yet at least
until the gargoyles are released
from crumbling cathedral spires lost
saints resurrected ships storm tossed
and failed rescue efforts have ceased
week 301 ~ sunlight dapples waves lap the shore
sunlight dapples waves lap the shore
we lie here dreaming of nothing
at all for we hold everything
in this moment not needing more
here there’s no after no before
only the wind through the aspen
not wondering what will happen
just memorizing how this feels
forestalling time until its wheels
run past us and this turns to then
week 90 ~ the wind rustles through the aspen
the wind rustles through the aspen
as waves softly lap at the shore
and right now there is nothing more
than this I would wish to happen
my circumstances don’t often
allow me time to pause with grace
while clocks run down and others race
to keep up to the flow of time
and so I linger in sublime
wonder to be here in this place
