week 457 ~ treetops peek through my window

with 2 comments

treetops peek through my window
stark against the cloud-grey sky
ponder where did summer go

rain-drenched branches bowing low
silent birds still dare not fly
treetops peek through my window

dampness invades its chill so
penetrating here as I
ponder where did summer go

still time presses on below
throw off blankets heave a sigh
treetops peek through my window

time to start the day although
morning sunlight passed us by
ponder where did summer go

sluggishly though it be slow
life persists so we must try
treetops peek through my window
ponder where did summer go

week 453 ~ like an old-fashioned photograph

with 2 comments

like an old-fashioned photograph
family faded by sunlight
we gather briefly here despite
distances for a snapshot laugh
-ing hoping to choreograph
the automatic timer on
the camera to capture joy drawn
on our faces salt from the sea
still on our lips reality
fusing us in time passing gone

week 301 ~ sunlight dapples waves lap the shore

with 2 comments

me.301sunlight dapples waves lap the shore
we lie here dreaming of nothing
at all for we hold everything
in this moment not needing more
here there’s no after no before
only the wind through the aspen
not wondering what will happen
just memorizing how this feels
forestalling time until its wheels
run past us and this turns to then
