week 479 ~ there is a clear beauty in solitude

with one comment

there is a clear beauty in solitude
moonlight on snow seen through an open door
tonight discovers it needs nothing more
than this peacefully quiet interlude
outside lies a world blanketed in white
muffling sounds holding them close to their source
no one breaks the shaken globe to enforce
schedule idly basking in fading light
pull poetry from dross hum unwritten
tunes give some lost good ideas room to strike
or do nothing if that’s what now feels like
the point is not how much can be stuffed in
reflection allows your compass to find
its own true north and perhaps peace of mind

week 459 ~ solemnity of sacred space

with 2 comments

solemnity of sacred space
cool against the swirl of commerce
forcing thoughts to pause we immerse
ourselves honor this ancient place
of prayer and hope the fame we chase
fades we breathe and can simply be
for a moment here lost but free
to reflect allow gratitude
to fill us and in solitude
acknowledge the joy of beauty

Week 242 ~ you’ve lost relevance as this tragedy

with 2 comments

me.242you’ve lost relevance as this tragedy
grows old and fading regrets turn to dust
dissolving into fledgling dreams that must
have always been here though not so shiny
life tastes better a path I didn’t see
until I stood alone at the door just
glistens in the sun beckoning and trust
-ing myself seems incredibly easy
today the light smiles beautiful flowers
bloom riotously pain doesn’t matter
though it took awhile to believe it so
I find joy in solitary hours
and with strength turn the corner now that you’re
just somebody somewhere I used to know

Now You’re Just Somebody That I Used To Know

week 78 ~ what is the distance between solitude

with 21 comments

what is the distance between solitude
and loneliness between caution and fear
and is there a warning sign as you near
the border I think not but it’s been food
for contemplation these weeks away from
home we choose our prisons but we’re not meant
to stay in them for long life is intent
on moving us ahead so as I come
to the end of my time-out in Rio
and pack my bags to go without answers
to these questions of degree it occurs
to me that maybe I’d really have no
quandaries to resolve if I just let
time show me what I haven’t thought of yet
