week 479 ~ there is a clear beauty in solitude

with one comment

there is a clear beauty in solitude
moonlight on snow seen through an open door
tonight discovers it needs nothing more
than this peacefully quiet interlude
outside lies a world blanketed in white
muffling sounds holding them close to their source
no one breaks the shaken globe to enforce
schedule idly basking in fading light
pull poetry from dross hum unwritten
tunes give some lost good ideas room to strike
or do nothing if that’s what now feels like
the point is not how much can be stuffed in
reflection allows your compass to find
its own true north and perhaps peace of mind

week 459 ~ solemnity of sacred space

with 2 comments

solemnity of sacred space
cool against the swirl of commerce
forcing thoughts to pause we immerse
ourselves honor this ancient place
of prayer and hope the fame we chase
fades we breathe and can simply be
for a moment here lost but free
to reflect allow gratitude
to fill us and in solitude
acknowledge the joy of beauty

week 420 ~ as I reflect on all that I can see

leave a comment »

me-421as I reflect on all that I can see
knowing there’s so much more invisible
now but poised waiting down the road for me
I toast the kindness of grace my cup full
of life’s bounty as it’s turned out to be
and I wouldn’t trade the incredible
sirens’ song that brought me here finally
to accept time’s gravitational pull
for love desire sorrow even pain
have gifts to share treasures that still remain
as my heart ever vigilant dreams on
tracing the faint line evidently drawn
by music long ago and far away
its mystery anticipating this day

week 410 ~ where is the longed for space

leave a comment »

me.410where is the longed for space
hard won from waiting time
this out-of-control pace
where is the longed for space
there’s no way to replace
freedom lost once sublime
where is the longed for space
hard won from waiting time

week 224 ~ bright and cold I shiver

with 4 comments

me.224

bright and cold I shiver
walk on past yesterday
watching as hopes quiver

 pause to let a sliver
of life just float away
bright and cold I shiver

 sunlight floods the river
there’s no chance it will stay
watching as hopes quiver

time knows I can’t give her
any more room to play
bright and cold I shiver

lost images live blur
my resolve not to stray
watching as hopes quiver

hearing the plaintive whir
of life’s long brave melee
bright and cold I shiver
watching as hopes quiver

I have received awards from many friends online, and comments that have raised my spirits and touched my heart. The online poetry community has been such a source of delight and surprise to me this year. And so I have created this award from a photo of one recent moment of my year, and offer it to these 12 online friends whose work continually gives me cause for celebration. Please visit their pages:
