week 100 ~ I step into this dry brown phase
I step into this dry brown phase
of the year with profound regret
one burst of color then forget
greens blues the flowers that amaze
me crumble I look past the glaze
of frost for inevitable
shadows drawn in indelible
ink that splay across the bare bones
of landscape as if this atones
for the nearness of winter’s pull
never is a long time and so
we cling to anything that lives
cherish each yellow leaf that gives
false hope for spring’s return but no
hand will stay death long so we go
forward into our kingdom of
loss as darkness beckons above
naked branches grasping what’s left
of light and autumn winds bereft
sing old incantations to love
week 98 ~ she could ride hard this bold lady
she could ride hard this bold lady
but would she decide to follow
now a raggle taggle gypsy
she asked herself the moment he
knocked on her door his face aglow
she could ride hard this bold lady
here stood an opportunity
to escape life’s tedious flow
now a raggle taggle gypsy
or just regret which would it be
she finally had a chance to show
she could ride hard this bold lady
her conclusion came naturally
since luck upon her did bestow
now a raggle taggle gypsy
what would happen down the road she
grabbed her hat she wanted to know
she could ride hard this bold lady
now a raggle taggle gypsy
week 96 ~ when will you tire of love songs
when will you tire of love songs
I can’t bear to read another
one and yes I see you love her
but really I don’t care who longs
for who and who truly belongs
with whom get a room don’t plague me
with undying vows that won’t see
you past your first argument time
isn’t on your side that’s why I’m
pissing on your epiphany
