week 644 ~ bright lights close her eyes
bright lights close her eyes
squint out at the world
I’m ok she lies
spring from winter flies
windy night unfurled
bright lights close her eyes
head down she still tries
dodging troubles hurled
I’m ok she lies
still her answer buys
time through dangers swirled
bright lights close her eyes
though she sometimes cries
in dread’s cocoon curled
I’m ok she lies
snow melts pavement dries
questions answers twirled
bright lights close her eyes
I’m ok she lies
week 575 ~ time always passing as lit from within
time always passing as lit from within
memories escape from their holding cell
with joy or sorrow hallmarks of life well
and truly lived too many to begin
to spend time while the present rushes in
and then it’s gone with stories yet to tell
I hold fast in the current if I fell
would I pass on too would momentum win
or tied to a life path I can’t let go
in moments of despair because of all
who wouldn’t understand I chose to fall
to rush through the interminably slow
unwinding of years left dreams forgotten
have I the strength to stand back up again
week 187 ~ an unexpected consequence of loss
an unexpected consequence of loss
pain opens doors that would have remained closed
without contradiction superimposed
across the map of my lost future toss
out expectations they don’t matter gloss
over tribulation a heart exposed
to the elements beats like it’s supposed
to no matter what the rest’s only dross
I walk ahead pelted by cleansing rain
time has no answers for me truth has fled
it hollers back pack up your wounds have bled
enough throw out the reasons to remain
here it’s time to move on you surely know
you’ll never find out why until you go
