week 335 ~ there is just something about
there is just something about
a sunny day warm dreamy
half close your eyes grin and shout
look around there you’ll see me
a sunny day warm dreamy
a baby’s smile bursts open
look around there you’ll see me
chortle flap your arms now when
a baby’s smile bursts open
the height of pure happiness
chortle flap your arms now when
all you imagine is bliss
the height of pure happiness
when turmoil’s over through
all you imagine is bliss
a day with nothing to do
when turmoil’s over through
there is just something about
a day with nothing to do
half close your eyes grin and shout
week 292 ~ a sonnet for baby S sound the horns
a sonnet for baby S sound the horns
so long coming so welcome in our hearts
see he grins and wriggles with a newborn’s
instinct for the right reaction then starts
to coo non-word words whose subtext imparts
a comfort being here with us so new
and yet exactly right worry departs
with winter’s snows and somehow we are through
to bluer skies and smiles yes crying too
for he firmly announces something’s wrong
until we figure out what we should do
but spring now fills our days with light and song
and we sing too breathing the scented air
for this sweet boy the answer to our prayer
my first Spenserian sonnet
