Weather is so changeable and very much wetter than usual this month. July is ordinarily our driest month, but this year sunny days have been few and far between.

A first flowers opening up on my new tree, that has made it through our harsh winter here in my front yard and looks like it’s set to burst forth in a bevy of blossoms. Its very presence cheers me through the window as I try to avoid distraction, chaining myself to my ever-increasing pile of grading, willing the semester toward its close.

Roads are better today, although we are running out of places to stash all the snow, and the far-below-zero temperatures don’t allow for melting. We are up to our necks in the white stuff with no end in sight.

“And its root, root, root for the home team!” Despite the dismal season of our local major league team, their minor league franchise has made it to the play-offs. I hurry home from school to catch the evening ballgame. I do love the stadium, the games, the fans, the sausage-&-peppers sandwich and revel in this last grasp at summer as it slips through my fingers. Our team wins 8-2. Nice.
