Seen on my walk today, a reminder of trips untaken, places I love unreturned-to, people I love seen only on zoom.

week 671 ~ if you are sad take a minute

leave a comment »

if you are sad take a minute
then pick yourself up and move on
it’s time to play the cards you’ve drawn
the world’s better with you in it
see what’s next and then begin it
your worst day might be someone’s best
your luck is to be here so rest
then gather up the threads that lead
to unformed days ahead don’t heed
doubt it’s enough you have progressed

week 624 ~ the river of time

with 2 comments

the river of time
flows slowly at first
its reason has rhyme
the river of time
takes everything mine
what’s best and what’s worst
the river of time
flows slowly at first

Getting things together for my friend Antonia’s memorial service on Sunday. Pictured is her unfinished quilt top of the T-shirts she made annually for my summer school. Nostalgia for times and people past.

And finally, overnight, a drenching, glorious rain.

A day of out-and-up errands, writing up a to-do list, picking things up at stores, sending out mail, gassing up the car, cleaning up, cooking up. Almost like normal, except for the mask, yep– almost…

A lovely day for a walk to the farmers’ market– my weekly destination for fruit, veggies, fish, bread, and for a treat, croissants and ginger biscuits for the day’s breakfast. In these days of shelter-in-place, I’m so lucky to have this bounty of deliciousness a few blocks away, with all pandemic safety guidelines observed. For another month anyway.

A day spent close to home, editing my recent compositions, chatting with the grandboys, laughing, appreciating their new Pokemon cards, proudly shown. Avoiding the news for the nonce– assuming none of it will be welcome or cheering.
