It has been snowing for hours with hardly any accumulation. Just a gentle continuous drifty fall. Pretty to look at, easy to walk in. My schedule is getting tied in knots– not sure how. I mean, aren’t we locked in isolation? But it seems there’s lots of business and keeping-in-touch to do online, which is time consuming but needed to keep pushing life onward. At the end of each day I find I still have an array of tasks on the to-do list, things I have to push past or push aside to get back to the creative part of this life in solitude.

Snow arrives, and I drive south through it for a doctor’s appointment. Never my favorite activity. Returning home it appears the storm is slow in its move north, so I squeeze in a walk through a light flurry of snowflakes. I am thankful that our weather appears fairly normal for February, making us a rarity in the country this week.
week 643 ~ woman who lives at the edge of the world
woman who lives at the edge of the world
at the end of time the mother of all
who have lost their way forward hear my call
as I stumble my destination twirled
in the claws of defeat unraveling
while I wait and grow old without solace
no sheltering harbor here or safe place
to rest or hold fast always traveling
in circles asking why I can’t break through
grabbing hold of my own inner wildness
fighting to eradicate spurious
references to expectations to do
what I do well do best is all I ask
some opportunity outside this mask

Well it’s Valentine’s Day, and gloomy grey, so some sort of celebration is in order. For us it involves a drive, and crossing a snowfield to stroll on the beach. It’s cold but not windy, and looking out toward the horizon always lifts my spirits. Home to a lovely dinner by the fire. Maybe not traditionally pink and chocolate, but a great day.
