And we are off on our long-anticipated Philly adventure. First stop is my brother’s home just south of the city. P and I are arriving a day early to help prepare for the arrival of our whole group tomorrow, and just to spend an evening with my bro. TIt’s a long drive, but the traffic gods are with us and we make good time. And so we celebrate together– long lives, good humor, good health, delicious oysters, and a great music jam. So lovely to transcend the distance and reconnect.

week 530 ~ to still feel so intensely

to still feel so intensely
left wanting to fight back hard
with youth’s fulsome energy
to still feel so intensely
no longer will work for me
in age’s restrained regard
to still feel so intensely
left wanting to fight back hard

A calm moment in an otherwise hectic day getting ready for our trip to the Philadelphia area tomorrow, initiated by music, expanding to add in family and friends. Finally packed and ready, we have dinner at B’s, as she knows we could use a break and a good meal before heading out tomorrow.

Interesting how the whole world takes on an artistic aspect when the imagination is invigorated by seeing and digesting the art of others.

A detail from the photo from the other artist exhibiting yesterday. The painterly aspects of his photos and the realistic elements in the paintings of the other make for an intriguing show.

Today I go with B to the show of two artist friends. They too have been friends for decades and it is interesting to see their very different styles juxtaposed. This is a detail from one work– a blast of brightness on a grey day.

A visit to Mom today– and trial roadtrip for the new car before our big one upcoming next week. Our visit finds her cheerful, with lots to say but with words not in any logical sequence. P remembers her singing of the Canadian national anthem on a past trip so we ask and she does a perfect job, both melody and words. And that is the highlight. We swing by my brother’s house as well before driving home. Roadtrip discoveries– there is alot we need to investigate about how all the electronics work on my modern digital-not-analog vehicle before hitting the road on Thursday.
