And they arrive one by one, those faces and voices, and their music that I have missed so. Vaccinated all, we sit once again around my dining-room table and look at each other in sudden amazement, as if we have just awakened from a 15-month hibernation. We play our music, not perfectly but gaining in strength as we go along. Fingers remembering where to go, or laughing when they don’t. Afterwards we eat a glorious potluck lunch and bask in sunny backyard conversation. A door opens and we hold hands and rush happily through.
