Celebrating a Year

Somewhere after midnight, I realize, while typing a program, that I need to change a trio arrangement to a quartet, because I forgot to include someone in a chamber group, in the last minute swirl of drops and adds. So yesterday strode right into today before I managed to get to bed. I wake late, still groggy as Enigmatica arrives for a last rehearsal for this week’s performance; vaguely hurried, as I throw clothes for the week in a suitcase; truly grateful that I packed all the important papers and music in the car last night while I had my wits still bout me. But with a few usual glitches I get myself off the mark and we begin: check-in, first rehearsal, welcoming reception, dinner, joy of greeting old friends while being sure to guide newbies into the flow. As I fall asleep I am confidently happy that all is good, and I can’t wait to begin tomorrow!
