Celebrating a Year

1-21-17We head out, my friends and I, melding with others wending their way to our state house, more and more of us, more than expected, more than 7,000. It’s sunny and we find we are unexpectedly happy. I text with my daughter as her rally in MN exceeds 100,000, and my niece as her Pittsburgh rally tops 25,000. The signs are great, the speeches thoughtful, the energy invigorating. But it’s perhaps most exciting when I get home and get an email from E saying, check out the marches around the country, around the world.1-21b-17 And I turn on the TV and realize we in our corner of the world have been part of history, part of something big and inevitable, part of a movement, the only way we could all have our say, calmly, with dignity and joy. I don’t know what will happen next, but I do know that I, and about 4 million others, feel better than we had expected to this evening.
