Celebrating a Year

11-24-16Thanksgiving Day arrives– a quiet one for P & me. Nevertheless we cook an entire feast– who are we to flaunt tradition– and enjoy every bite, along with the peaceful equanimity of dining in like-minded company. I do call my sibs, when nostalgia for the many years of big unruly holidays at my folks’ place with our young families pokes its head into the calmness of my current celebration. Remembering the joyous hectic swirl of those days makes me so glad we persevered with the “over the river…to grandmother’s house we go,” through all logistical difficulties, as long as there was a house to go to.
