Celebrating a Year

8.12.16A concert day, and P’s first as a member of my mandolin ensemble. We drive out a couple of hours west chatting with J, a friend/musician from the group, and rendezvous with the others for a cheerful delicious dinner at a nearby restaurant. Just as we are about to leave for the hall though, the skies open and we are caught in a ferocious downpour that soaks us through as we race back, unload instruments from cars, and arrive dripping puddles. Luckily we have concert clothes to change into, so drying our hair as best we can, we set up. Almost miraculously the audience arrives, filling the hall. We play well and joyfully, P and I add 3 Brazilian duets to start the second half, and a good time is had by all. We arrive home near midnight, tired, but musically renewed. An episode in the life of musicians.

  1. Though wet…it sounds as if it was a wonderful time.
