Celebrating a Year

7.15.16An unexpected last-minute gig lands in our lap today. I say yes to it — an Italian Festa two days hence– and spend some time assembling notebooks of appropriate waltzes, mazurkas, and polkas for mandolin and guitar. Social music gigs, wallpaper music as some call it, come with a measure of uncertainty– what will the set-up be, will the sound system work, can we pull the tunes together in time– but today all seems possible. In the evening we tune into the Republican Convention and follow the spectacle with some incredulity, some amusement, and some genuine concern. I definitely think it’s a good idea to check out the opposition, but sometimes it’s hard to believe they have actually thought about the meaning of the words they are speaking with such vehemence.

  1. Hmm…all that talk about the end of days is starting to sound a bit more credible to me.:-)
