Celebrating a Year

3.15.16Museu de Folclore Edison Carneiro, my favorite museum in Rio, alas, is still not open after the flooding that ruined so many old buildings in Rio several years ago. But they do still have one exhibition hall, and a store that is practically a gallery in itself, so we head over to Catete to visit them today. In the evening we return to the best restaurant ever, tempting fate, and have a lovely meal, with the possible exception of one of the chef’s choices– octopus! Yikes! He 3.15a.16did make up for it with a Brazilian version of mini-lobster rolls, and he honored our request for a replay of the delicious non-menu-item fois gras. Afterwards I finish up a few details for my talk tomorrow at UFRJ– the reason I get to extend spring break for an extra week– and cross my fingers that the tech component will be able to add the pictures, portugues slides, and musical examples, as I’ve planned.
