Celebrating a Year

11.5.15Inexplicably photos have vanished from my computer. Why? Photos of today, the concert tonight. Yes, I do have others to use, but it makes me fear for the stability of this record of my life. Tonight’s multi-media production of some of Alexander Scriabin’s early piano preludes is a diluted pleasure. The music is lovely, but I’m not sure I like it being pushed around by the visuals and vocals added by the performers. Is the classical music recital dead? Killed off by a multi-tasking generation who can’t sit still for one solo beautiful thing? I am old enough to remember how rock music bounced back after M-TV sublimated the real event to a visual overlay. But as a performer, will I outlast this phase? Here’s a performance of one etude in the series. Let me know if you, as I, think it is enough by itself.
