8.1.15A new month and a fine vintage of old jazz for us to enjoy in the brilliant sun at the Newport Jazz festival. Jack DeJohnette’s “Made in Chicago,” with Roscoe Mitchell, Henry Threadgill, Muhal Richard Abrams, and Larry Gray cook up a powerful brew of intertwining improvisational lines, a feat only possible for stellar musicians with a long shared history. Here’s a little background video. Enjoy! We surely did. A great way to start summer’s last month.

  1. Ah…soon we’ll be having Jazz In The Pines…a two jazz festival to support the performing arts school at Idyllwild.
