To the right, the view from the kitchen window. Miriam’s apartment backs up to the Morro do Urca– the large but shorter bump of next to Pao do Acucar. So the view from our window in front is a Rio vista, including Guanabara Bay and Cristo, and the view from the rear is more intimate, a rock wall, tropical plants, birds, and the occasional lizard. Today we are going downtown to meet Paulo Sa and go to a noon concert of bandolimist Marco da Pinna’s
quartet. It’s good to see Paulo and he promises to send photos of his kids– growing so fast, who I wasn’t able to see in Petropolis this trip. The concert is interesting, a mix of familiar choro and other music less so. To the left is Marco, and a 7-string guitarist who I have seen frequently before, whose name I think is Casulo. After the concert we go to Saarau, a multi-block permanent bazaar, to shop for little presents for the folks at home.
Was at jazz performance last evening with seven string guitarist…interesting to hear the difference.

Yes it really becomes more of a bass-line instrument rather than a chord-playing guitar.
