Today, after an errand in Copacabana, we visit the Jardim Botanico. To the right a Jacqueira tree planted in 1825. The fruits are huge and apparently could really hurt you if one fell on you in the wild. I become somewhat obsessed, in the Orchid greenhouse, with the little people in the center of each blossom. Many
photos you, alas, will never see, but here is one to the left. We head home for a quick turn-around, and then we are off to the roda at Gago Coutinho, where the wonderful Valle is playing his 7-string with the equally wonderful Luiz on 6-string. It is a lovely roda for me, probably my last of this trip, as I get to play so many of my favorite tunes. We have a comedy of errors trying to record everything though, and run down the batteries and memory cards in one camera and two phones. But it is an evening of good cheer and camaraderie. Back in Urca we stop at a local restaurant for a delicious steak covered with garlic– that we had envied on an earlier visit. The perfect end to a great day.
Oh…my another vicarious vacation for all of us is coming to an end…sounds like a wonderful day.
