Celebrating a Year

week 260 ~ I know that Mona Lisa smile

with 7 comments

me.260I know that Mona Lisa smile
one corner up the other still
unsure deciding if it will
let joy sing out or wait awhile
savor the moment to beguile
time but when the corners begin
to slide apart and discipline
succumbs to delight well you’ll see
it’s less mysterious merely
DaVinci’s prelude to a grin

  1. Love the playful tone of the poem.

    • Thanks. Do you think anyone has ever done a caricature of a grinning Mona Lisa?

  2. Wonderful!
“Prelude to a grin” I love that. Could do something with that. A mystery story, perhaps.
:-) Always enjoy your poetry, Marilynn.

    • Thanks, Jamie. I actually spent the whole week wrestling with a pantoum for your “Poets for Peace” page, but I just had to give up as it was sounding too forced. Maybe I’ll link an older poem if that’s OK. I do want to be part of your statement.

      • Thank you! I appreciate that. Next year we’ll link the event to 100,000 poets for peace, which actually includes musicians, film makers, artists and so on … :-) Take your time. I probably won’t have a wrap up finished until Thursday.
