Celebrating a Year

For those of you who inquired, my view on waking. The shade is true, but my new blue isn’t really that dark all over, it’s just the shadows that make it seem so. My son arrives for a visit before moving to France for the foreseeable future, so I drop all pretense of work and we hang out, chatting, figuring out how to scan old slides of mountain hikes and travels in his childhood, visiting a frequent favorite eatery for dinner. It’s lovely to have him perched here for a few days, as he often is before setting out on a new phase of his life. He returns “the” rubber tree, bought as he went off to college, dropped off at home when he graduated to a more peripatetic life, and then back with him in his grad school apartment. It has grown so large, as have his life and his dreams. And now he is following them further on down the road, far away, but where he needs to be.

    • Thanks Sharmishtha! Would that we could actually meet one day– under whatever blue sky or ceiling.
