“Like a bird on a wire/ Like a drunk in a midnight choir/ I have tried, in my way, to be free.” Leonard Cohen. I set off for school today far too optimistically, clothing-wise, and freeze for it all day. But teaching goes well, the all-important last classes that wrap up the semester in preparation for exams. And now it’s back to grading, moving from term papers to essay exams. Resigned to it; will try again to be free in about 10 days when I do believe I will have more success.
Although I miss my students…I do not miss the grading…I shall raise a glass of wine in your honor. :-)

Oh…by the way…have fun grading those essays…I often wondered…’Did I really say that?’ :-)

Somehow with this group the spontaneous writing comes closer to truth. It’s as if they have to put on a disguise to face a term paper.
