Celebrating a Year

We need more blue sky days with fluffy white clouds, and more opportunities to look up and inhale deeply instead of watching our step as we stride through life trying not to trip. We need more beach days, more lie-on-our-backs-in-the-grass days. We need to slough off the pressures and burdens, the slings-and-arrows-of, the sharp rise of oh-my-gosh-I’m-late in the back of the throat. I’m not sure how, but I have to find a spot or two of peace to take a time-out, soon. I stuff the errant thoughts of escape back into my tomorrow pile, pack up my stuff and head out to teach about music and life, an occupation fraught with deadlines and headaches, though inspired by joy.

    • Yes, but it always seems to be in front of the pack. How I adore my lucky summers as an academic!

  4. Inspired by joy … lovely.

“Mini” vacations always help me. Off with radio and computer and on with silence, fresh-air, solitude. Just an hour or two helps …
