Celebrating a Year

I love a parade, especially when it marches right by my house. The local church has several festas a year, celebrated with music, banners, flags, girls in white dresses, little boys in pressed shirts and ties, and their wonderful community bands. Parents and children march together playing slow marches far different than Sousa, tunes steeped in the heritage of Portugal and the Azores. It’s a little bit of armchair travel on a sunny Sunday morning right in my own neighborhood.

  1. Never experienced anything like a parade in front of my home…given your love for music it must have been very special.
