Celebrating a Year

week 109 ~ second story sunlight

with 38 comments

she felt her heart reopening
like a flower one petal at
a time she would never say that
she was fixed but she was getting
more solid more beautiful wing-
ing her way out into the glow
of second story sunlight know-
ing every scar each wound in its
process of healing all the bits
that were her life her seeds to sow

Another from the series of decima I’m writing for NaNoWriMo, now with the working title, “Hopper’s Voices”.

  1. Love this, Marilynn. Strong, focused and confident. Out of the ashes…

  3. That’s how it should be..the fondness for your protagonist. And when you’re finished writing, there is a sense of loss. The poem is perfect…I like the enjambment and how it drags the reader to the next line.

  4. Clean and crisp, no sick-sweet sentiment, just clear real feeling. Enjoyed it very much.

  6. A beautiful metaphor, but the line breaks were oddly placed. Though most likely intended and I just couldn’t really understand why.

    • Thanks– it’s my abstraction of formal poetic structure, in this case the decima.

  8. A working title and a loved protagonist. Hooray! Full speed ahead. I so admire that you’ve put such an added challange into the effort: doing it all in poem.

    • it’s now turning into a series of decima with free verse interludes, that may turn into prose sections– I’m not sure yet.

  13. Just when I was thinking of you, you were reading me.. (O-O)

    I have been here myself..

My initial days of Blogging and this composition matches well. A lot of healing happened while writing them here. I had never been embarrassed of whatever I have been though. But writing them here was different. I had to undergo lot of changes to be able to do so.. Fighting within, courage, patience, digging the correct words to express the hurt- my hurt!!
It was almost living the pain yet again and for the final time.

After having written the maximum portion of my biography, I now feel better.. :)
I can say I am opening myself back to Life.. It’s all on my Blog for everyone to read. That way, it’s easy. No more “catching up” and discuss the obsolete and hurting things. No fear of getting judged. It’s a open book now.. Read and decide.. I mean I wouldn’t have to “share” a thing or two now to begin or hold a relationship now- Even friendships are relationships!!

How you guys have read those and commented and “yet” loved me has made me chirp again- literally.. :)

Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece.. a story was told in just a few words and a great one at that..

Apologies, I have been spelling your name incorrectly for all this while- not any more..

    Loads of Love n Wishes
    Happy Weekend
