Thanks to the blogospherific Almondjoycie for nominating me for the Pink Award. To accept I need to list 7 things about me and nominate & link to 10 bloggers. So (trying for quirky things my readers may not know)… 1. I spell my name w/ 2 “n”s – Marilynn. 2. I’m a member of Red Sox Nation. 3. I’m also a Fogao (member of Rio’s Botofogo futbol team fan base). 4. I’ve played in 4 rock bands- guitar, mandolin, violin, accordion- sang too. 5. I write poetry using classic forms so I’ll know when I have to stop. 6. I wrote a piece of music in honor of the 100th birthday of the Tootsie Roll. 7. Words you’ll never hear me say: “No I can’t go, I need to clean the house.” And I’d like to nominate friends whose blogs I always enjoy: Robot Cupcake, Trisha, TimKeeton, buttercup600, Tracy, bkm, Talon, Katherine, Adam, heartspell. Requirements to accept: On your blog: thank your nominator, write 7 things about yourself, nominate 10 bloggers and link to their sites. Pass it on and have fun!

[ps Any of my nominees who already have this award, I did try to check your sites to prevent duplication, but just let me know & don’t feel obligated to accept. I love y’all anyway.]

  1. Congratulations on the award! Those are interesting facts, Marilynn! No. 7 had me laughing out loud – you wouldn’t hear me say that either – lol! (And I definitely think the Tootsie Roll deserves a song…and I once wrote an ode to bittersweet chocolate – lol)

Thank you so much for the award. I’m going to have to check out these other blogs which is always the best part of the award memes :)

  2. Thank you Marilynn! This award was a welcome reminder that I hadn’t visited your sight in a while and I needed my weekly dose of triolets and sonnets. I also thought of you down in Rio as I’m heading southish to Costa Rica in a couple of weeks with la familia y el novio in tow. I know it’s a far cry, but I still thought of you :)

    Well-deserved for sure!!!
And it’s great to get to know you a little better…

Oh, and by the way, for a poetry-illiterate such as myself, the descriptions you have on the right, for the different styles and types of poetry, are a real bonus!!!
Thanks for sharing it with us… I am learning now :)

  7. Thank you so much Marilynn with two nn’s! I got this award not too long ago, but am thrilled that you thought of me. I was on your my space page the other day and really enjoyed your music, I have to say. Your number five was funny too, although I don’t think you necessarily need the help with your poetry; it is always very beautiful. I love that you write in different styles though! I have been admiring other people’s poetry the last little while and you are definitely a favourite to check out for me.

Here is my link to my recent list, but as I missed out on the last one, I think I should share one more thing with you. http://krigek.blogspot.com/2010/07/one-lovely-blog.html
So, #7. After returning from my trip to Africa and having an article published in the local newspaper, the local TV station contacted me and wanted to do an interview with me. I was floored, but agreed to go on air. I was soooo nervous, but somehow managed to go through my live interview pretty well. That was until they asked me to point out on a map where exactly I had gone. They shone up a map of Africa and when I reached out to point out my path my hand shook so bad I had to grab it with the other and do a two-handed point and draw. By that time I had thought I was fine, but obviously still a little star-struck. Ha! The interview was taped by my aunt, who I was living with at the time. I haven’t the foggiest if it still exists or not, but that was my few minutes of fame!

  9. First, let me say, I’m truly proud that you enjoy my poetry…really:) The quality and caliber of your poems, to me , makes your comments and approval highly prized, and I’m tickled PINK that you count me in the ten blogs you mention above…Thank You. I recently received the Pink Award (http://tracyhsays.com/2010/07/16/pink/) a couple of times. Your nomination makes it even sweeter. Thank you for taking your time and reading my work; it means a lot to me.
