Celebrating a Year

It’s a holiday today– Columbus Day– so I have time to catch my breath before heading back to school. My ensemble rehearses in the morning, and then I’m back to the fix-up and clear-out of my house for putting it on the market. I push on single-mindedly, as this is crazy-making work full of decisions. The depersonalizing is the hardest– taking down all photos, posters of past events, the touchstones that get me through the day. But it needs to be done. The “staging” of the bookshelves is the most fun, as I pack up half of the books and add art, old toys, colorful instruments for interest. At day’s end I am not yet there, but getting ever closer.
