And they are off, my Brazilian family, to NYC and then back to Sao Paulo. It has been fun being part of their world for a few days. And in the morning we have the bang-up finale to it all with a brunch for friends and musicians, and friends of musicians, and friends of the family, with so much music made around my dining room table, like a traditional roda in my beloved Brazil. The energy is kinetic and everyone looks delightfully happy. Brunch lingers until nearly 6:00, but before it even begins the van has been packed up and soon they are on the road. Just need to buy a few more suitcases for all their new gear.
