There is almost more in this day than can be handled, but I get by with a little help from my friends. To school for teaching, a Brazilian music workshop (after which my friend Paul whisks the musicians off for pre-concert prep and dinner), office hours, home to set the schedule with the painter, then to the concert in town where I sit in for a couple of tunes, as is the custom in Brazil. But when it is all over and my friends in the audience are still standing outside the library chatting to the Brazilians, the air electric with excitement, well it’s all worth it in the end. As is nearly always the case for me with anything involving music.

Sounds like a busy day but one well worth it in terms of personal rewards.

But hectic does wear on one.
