This stretch of lawn, now verdant with late-summer green, has held so many phases of my life. My first steps away from home as a teen-aged college student, lazy sun-drenched conversations with friends and lovers, anxious moments before and after big exams, walks with my first newborn held close to my chest in a corduroy baby-pack, games of catch and frisbee and quiet book-reading with giggling toddlers, stormy striding when propelled outdoors by big questions without answers, and now a sidewards glance and a smile on many afternoon walks. Soon a new flock of college students will discover it for themselves. As for me, I’ll always see it with a host of overlays of the moments I loved best.

rather fascinating…I’ve never lived anywhere that long…lovely view.

Maybe that’s why I travel so much, because I am so grounded here. i’ve left for a year or 2 at times but always seem to return.
