Celebrating a Year

week 133 ~ a feather floating lightly

with 32 comments

a feather floating lightly
on the breeze squint at the sun
this bright hour all I see

its beauty convincing me
I could be the lucky one
a feather floating lightly
down not caring what will be
waiting when the music’s done
this bright hour all I see

and the poignant melody
that holds time ransom as fun
a feather floating lightly
drifts for one moment maybe
longer who knows what’s begun
this bright hour all I see

and if it’s paradise we
aren’t asking for a reason
a feather floating lightly
this bright hour all I see

  1. The flow of the poem is like that feather moving on the space of the page.

    • Interesting comment! I was trying to capture the feeling of our Easter, fleeting but forever.

    • Thanks, I love the transformative possibilities in the repeated-line forms. Funny coincidence w/ our names– maybe a slip of the pen in past lives.

  9. Thank you, that was wonderful. This was beauty “and the poignant melody that holds time ransom as fun a feather floating lightly”, though all was wonder to read.

    • Thanks, Jamie. It’s a difficult art to simply stay and not look back or forward. I try to learn.
